Atelier GDRE - 11 octobre 2012

Annual Workshop on

“Frontiers of Finance”:

Islamic Finance, Sustainable Finance, Ethical Finance, Social Finance, Microfinance...

October 11, 2012

Venue: Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University

12 place du Panthéon

75005 Paris

Salle 1

The Workshop is organised by the Frontiers of Finance subgroup of the European Research Group “Money, Banking & Finance” (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique), associated with the Chair for Ethics and Financial Norms (KAU-P1).

The recent financial crisis has pointed out the fragility and limited availability of conventional finance. To fulfil their task — to provide efficient funding and redistribution of risk among agents and over time — financial markets need new products and approaches.

Are conventional models best suited to improve social welfare by favouring the emergence of efficiency-oriented tools and products? Or, are there alternative paradigms that are more efficient from a social welfare point of view? Can Socially Responsible Investment, Ethical Finance, Islamic Finance, Social Finance, Micro Finance lead to more efficient risk sharing, more stable economic environment and less expensive funding? How alternative approaches could allow a more secure and fairer financial system? This workshop aims to bring together practitioners and academics who want to share and discuss ideas about ways to improve the financial system towards sustainability.

The main objective of the workshop is to present and discuss recent advances in academic research on: Sustainable Finance, Responsible Finance, Ethical Finance, Islamic Finance, Social Finance, Micro Finance…Both theoretical as well as empirical contributions are welcome.
